Our story begins in south Tampa in 1998 as a small group of Christians began to pray about starting a new church in that area. These families became the core group of Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church. From the very beginning, the leadership of HTPC has had the vision of planting other PCA churches in the Tampa Bay area. As a result of this commitment to church planting, in the fall of 2001, the elders of Holy Trinity called Rev. David Harding to be the organizing pastor of St. Petersburg Presbyterian Church. In January, 2002 a small core group began meeting for Bible study and prayer. After looking at many different options for a worship facility, God provided the BayWalk Muvico theaters in downtown St. Pete.

Our first public worship service was held on October 13th, 2002. We became an organized congregation of the PCA in September, 2005 with the ordination and installation of our first elders and deacons. In Septermber, 2006, we relocated our worship service to the Mirror Lake Lyceum. And in January, 2011, God enabled us to purchase and begin renovations on the property at 600 83rd Avenue NE.

By God’s sovereign grace, we are seeing people’s lives transformed by the power of the gospel. Jesus is fulfilling His promise in Matthew 16:18 where he says, “I will build My church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”. By faith in the promises of God, and for the glory of His Name, we are committed to building devoted followers of Jesus Christ, so that His Kingdom is extended in St. Petersburg and around the world.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14
